Government Corruption
In an article posted by Reuters, there is a story detailing some very unethical behavior from government officials. I quote:
U.S. Interior Department employees who oversaw oil drilling on federal lands had sex and used illegal drugs with workers at energy companies where they were conducting official business, an internal government report said on Wednesday.
That is absolutely appalling! Detailed in that article it also talks about the corrupt ethical practices such as directing government contracts out to friends and even flat out feeling that the ethical practices in Washington do not apply to them. One Democrat said it best (you’ll rarely see me say that!):
[Rep Nick] Rahall [chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee], a West Virginia Democrat, said it was no wonder the Minerals Management Service was doing a poor job of overseeing the government’s oil royalty program.
It seems they are to busy having inappropriate sexual relations and drug use. It sounds like something straight out of the Sopranos!! Whats worse is that ABC is quoted as saying that the Department of Justice will not prosecute violators in this suit! WOW… so apparently its ok for sexual favors (aka prostitution) and drug use if you are a government employee who deals with the oil companies.
I don’t care if that whole department is filled with Republicans or Democrats… charge them, prosecute them, make them pay hefty fines, and send them to JAIL.
