Politics as usual

Congrats you bunch of libs, your cap and trade tax energy into oblivioun has passed the house. Looks like our very own Bobby Bright waited until the end to see if his democraps needed his support of the bill.

The vote itself proceeded with much less drama than hung in the chamber for most of the day leading up to the much anticipated roll call; Democrats looked relieved and Republicans resigned as they watched votes register on the big board above the House floor. Fence-sitting Republicans such as Washington Rep. Dave Reichert and New Jersey Rep. Leonard Lance waited to vote “yes” on the bill, in a game of chicken with moderate Democrats.

Many of those moderate Democrats, like freshman Rep. Bobby Bright of Alabama, also waited until the end of the roll call to cast votes against the package.

In a trick learned during the stimulus bill, democraps added a 300 page amendment at the last minute, giving John Boehner the treat of reading it page-by-page. Although I haven’t gotten a concrete source, it seems that the bill was voted on largly unread. That worked out great for the stimulus bill didn’t it?

The libs better get everything they can done before 2010. I’m not sure how much more of this blatant power grab by government the American people can stomach.

Lets add some more hypocrisy

So the reaking hypocrisy that came from Mark Sanford this week (Geeze can this guy be any more idiotic?), has a little bit of company from our old pal Obama. It seems that Mr. Obama is threatening his first presidential veto for a defense spending bill.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives was poised to approve on Thursday a $550.4 billion defense authorization bill for fiscal 2010 that has drawn a veto threat from President Barack Obama because it contains money for fighter jets he does not want.

The bill also authorizes $130 billion to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the fiscal year that begins October 1.

And what pray tell could Mr. Obama be so upset about? $369 million for 12 more F-22 fighter jets and $603 million for work on the F-35. Yeah, you read right. He is threatening to veto a $550 billion dollar bill because of $972 million dollars for military equipment that he disagrees with.

That is 0.18% of the total bill in case you were wondering, less than 1/5th of 1 percent of the bill and he wants to throw a hissy fit.

Need I remind you guys, that this is the same Mr. Obama who forced the poorly managed $787 billion dollar stimulus package down our throats (so glad we got that passed so we could get unemployment under control…. oh wait… nevermind) and is now pushing for a trillion dollar overhaul of the health care system. And he wants to whine about $972 million dollars?

Mmmm smell that hypocrisy, it always goes better with a bottle of A-1 steak sauce and a steamy romance novel.

HD6 Democrat Candidate Shuns Voters, Declines Candidate Forum

For Immediate Release
June 23, 2009
Contact: Philip Bryan

Birmingham – With three weeks remaining before the critical House District 6 Special Election, the Democrat candidate has declined to participate in a candidate forum with Republican Phil Williams. The forum, hosted by both The Huntsville Times and television station WHNT on July 7th, was to be televised throughout the district so that voters could hear directly from the candidates. A similar issues based discussion was recently held during the Senate District 7 race. The Alabama Republican Party believes that the hardworking families in House District 6 deserve better than to be ignored by those who seek to represent them, and commend Phil Williams for his willingness to participate in the discussion.

Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, compared the Democrat’s refusal to discuss the issues facing the district was a sad reminder of everything that is broken in Montgomery.

“In these economic times, taxpayers want to hear what their next Representative is going to do to create jobs and ease the financial burden on their families,” Hubbard said. “Republican Phil Williams has developed a 5-point plan for new job creation, and will continue working to earn the trust of voters based on his vision for the future of the district.”

“If the Democrats had a plan to create new jobs for Madison County, they would have jumped at the opportunity to participate in this forum,” Hubbard added.

I can’t stay silent any more.

The stories from Iran are heart-breaking. The silence by Obama is deafening. For days, we have let this travesty unfold while we sit mute on the sidelines. People are crying out only to fall on deaf ears. I’m not saying we rush in guns blazing, but we can’t sit idle while people are being killed in the streets. The theocracy won’t let people gather for mourning for the dead. They people in power want to talk about the great “democracy” they have, yeah… where I’m from, protesters can be arrested for civil disobedience not shot in the streets.

Obama is quick to go center stage and “apologize” to the world on America’s behalf, why doesn’t he use his podium to condemn how the police and revolutionay guard are “crushing” the protesters. I’m not telling him to meddle with the results, I’m wanting him to come out on the right side of the issue here and say “there are better ways to handle this situation, slaughtering your people cannot be tolerated.”

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.  - V

Serious Business

This is serious.

North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.

Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii’s main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.
Details of the launch came from the Japan’s best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.

Both Japanese intelligence and U.S. reconnaissance satellites have collated information pointing to the launch, according to the report.

Right now, I don’t care about health care, I don’t care about the economy, I don’t care about Obama’s ideologies. He better get his game face on. If for some strange reason, North Korea decided to do something stupid like attack us, Obama better be ready to answer with the only appropiate action. Wipe them off the face of the planet. You cannot threaten my fellow Americans of all races, political beliefs, and backgrounds and expect me to want to just “talk” about it.

If North Korea attacks us, that means they are through talking. I will expect a swift and devastating response. Get your game face on Mr. President, you have my support.

Political Payback

Remember how liberal loons got all upset of the Bush firing of US attorneys? Looks like Obama may be doing something similiar. It appears that Obama has ousted an Inspector General who investigated one of Obama’s cronies.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says he has lost confidence in the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs and has told Congress he is removing him from the position.

Obama’s move follows an investigation by IG Gerald Walpin finding misuse of federal grants by a nonprofit education group led by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star.

Ahhh, nothing like a little political retaliation to start the day off right.

Paul Sanford Wins SD-07

Not only wins, but wins big. 58% of the vote total went to Republican candidate Paul Sanford to fill the vacancy left by Parker Griffith who was elected to Congress. Congrats to the Sanford campaign and all who made today possible.

And here all this time I’ve been told that the GOP is dead, gone and a washed up party. Looks like Alabama voters from SD-07 disagree with that assessment.

Boo Freaking Hoo

Sweet sweet irony.

CONWAY, Ark. — The man accused of killing a soldier outside a recruiting center begged for FBI agents to free him from a Yemeni jail where he was “tortured” and “radicalized” by Islamic terrorists, his lawyer told The Associated Press on Thursday.

You won’t see me shed a tear for this guy. That’s what you aspired to be like right? A terrorist? Awww and now your brothers didn’t play nice with you? You made your bed, now lay in it.

Chicago’s Handgun Ban

Looks like the the handgun ban in Chicago still stands.

The issue was so crystal-cear, it took Chicago’s federal appellate judges only a week to render their decision: Chicago’s handgun ban stands.

The Supreme Court’s Heller ruling last year throwing out Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban gave gun owners great hope that they could blast away bans in Chicago, Oak Park and other municipalities around the country.

This was the most appalling sentence in the article:

Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook read to gun-owners’ lawyers a key footnote the Supreme Court put into the Heller decision: “We re-affirm that the second amendment applies only to the federal goverment.”

If the second amendment only applies to the federal government, can’t we extrapolate that into saying that all of those amendments only apply to the federal government? So does that mean that the Bill of Rights only applies to the federal government? So the first amendment is can no longer guaranteed at the state level?

How far can this be taken?
